Peggy's Tribute from her loving family:

​Our Peggy crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday after a long, debilitating illness.  I always say that Peggy chose us when we adopted her over 7 years ago after her original owner could no longer care for her.  Peggy worked her way into our hearts immediately. While our hearts break at our loss we will remember how Peggy lived life to the fullest.  She loved long walks with her Westie brother Finley, especially if there was a squirrel or cat to chase.  She loved food, fetch, and playing tug; lightly nipping on our wrist playing tug to show the toy was hers.  She went on camping trips and adored running on the beach and playing in the waves.  She gave middle of the night cuddles when we were up with newborns that wouldn’t sleep and she made those same babies giggle with her antics. She made impatient growls when she wanted our food, especially fries.  Even in her last months when her health failed she persevered and brought so much joy. She will be deeply missed and long remembered. 

Alley came to us through our rescue vet, Olney Sandy Spring Veterinary Hospital.  She was left, during the night, in the hospital parking lot.  She was a victim of severe neglect and we suspect her owners could not afford her care.  OSSVH donated all of Alley's medical care which included a number of procedures, and she came to us for love and rehabilitation.  Alley is not an elderly dog,  she is probably 6 or 7 years old.  She is doing very well and is now a bouncy happy girl.  We would love for her to have a home where she will be able to provide sweet and loving companionship to someone.  If you are interested in Alley, please contact us a [email protected]

With great sadness, we have to update this little girl's story to say that she lost her battle with urinary tract disease in spite of the loving care of her new owner.  Nori was found on the side of the road by one of our volunteers when they were on their way to pick up some rescues in Virginia. She was so malnourished that the wonderful Veterinary staff at Olney-Sandy Spring Veterinary Hospital (OSSVH) thought she was a senior dog. Upon further examination they found a serious problem which caused her to arch her back to offset her discomfort and added to her "senior dog" appearance...

Nori had developed 4 bladder stones, the biggest of which measured over 5"x 6". She had emergency surgery to remove the stones but was still having trouble urinating. The Veterinary Doctors at OSSVH often collaborate with specialists in the veterinary field and one of those doctors discovered polyps in Nori's urethra. We were shocked. After the bladder stones were removed Nori was such a happy, loving dog and got along with everybody. We were worried that the polyps were cancerous and would shorten her life span. The polyps were sent to a specialist and thankfully they were determined to be benign! Nori went to her to her furever home, was given the name Tori and lived with two West Highland Terrier siblings where she was loved and well cared for during her short life.  We'd like to thank Chris Koerner and her husband for taking wonderful care of Tori.  You were a blessing to her and she was so lucky to have you both in her life.

Melody came to us with a shattered pelvis after being hit by a car. She was taken to a shelter who reached out to us to save her life. While she was at the shelter she contracted parvovirus, a nasty and often deadly gastro-enteric virus. She was kept in isolation under Veterinarian care until she was well enough to be cared for by MASTER volunteers. Today, Melody is a healthy happy girl and gets treated like a princess at her furever home. Thanks to the generous donations of our MASTER members and the public we were able to give Melody the care she needed to live and unite her with her loving owner.
